The two and a half hours before sunrise are said to be the Ambrosial Hours which, by their physical quiet, increased prana and sattvic (balanced, harmonious) energies, help us to cleanse, purify and still both body and mind. In the Kundalini Yoga tradition yogis are expected to rise up before dawn for yoga, chanting and meditation, after a cold shower.

Kundalini yoga is often called "The Yoga of Awareness" because it's a mental and spiritual practice as well as a physical one. The goal of Kundalini yoga is to awaken Kundalini energy, which is said to be coiled at the base of the spine like a snake. By drawing this energy up through the body and opening the seven chakras, practitioners can achieve enlightenment.

Some say that Kundalini yoga can have many potential benefits, including: Stress and anxiety relief, Improved cognitive function, Increased self-perception and self-appreciation, and Feelings of bliss and interconnectedness.

However, others say that Kundalini yoga can be dangerous without proper preparation and expert guidance. Some say that an awakening can feel like a bad drug trip or psychotic break, leading to changes in personality, altered sleep patterns, and depression.
