How to Breath Properly - For All Ages

Did you know that most people breath with their chest first?


Did you also know that breathing with the chest first, activates your fight or flight system? Beginning the breath this way can activate ones fight or flight mode, rather than to create peace in one's body.


The correct way to breath in order to regulate your nervous system is to start at the navel ( or your stomach) first! Here's a simple exercise to make sure you're breathing properly


Step 1) Place your hands on your belly either sitting down or lying down comfortably.


Step 2) Begin by breathing in through your nose allowing the belly to rise as you breath


Step 3) Allow the chest and upper body to rise, following shortly after the belly rising


Step 4) Exhale through the nose or mouth at the same pace you took a breath in .

HINT: It helps to do this in counts of 4 or 8. (4 if you are a beginner, and 8 if you are more advanced)
